Harold Yamada started Judo at the age of 5 year under his father at the Seattle Dojo, the oldest Judo Dojo in the United States (est. founded in 1902). He earned his black belt when he was 17 years old and has been teaching Judo for over 29 years. He started the Mercer Island Judo Dojo in 2000 and currently holds the rank of 4th degree black belt, is a Certified International Judo Referee, a USA Judo Teacher and Coach.
In Judo you learn basic techniques such as how to take a break fall, throws, pins, balance, respect, self esteem, discipline, and courage. Judo is a sport that has been in the Olympics since 1964.
Mercer Island Judo Dojo currently co hosts the Evergreen State Open Judo Championships which will be held next year on April 5, 2008. Black Belt Harold Yamada.
This class is suitable for all ages 5-15. Wednesday (NEW DAY) evenings 6:00-8:00pm. Classes are held throughout the year.
Cost $40/month
Refunds: Membership fees are non-refundable. A 10% processing fee will be charged for refunds requested in writing at the Boys & Girls Club prior to the first schedule practice. 50% of the program fee will be refunded for requests made after the first scheduled practice and no refund will be available after the first scheduled game.
